Parents' Views
Thank you for returning this year's questionnaire for parents. Out of 199 forms distributed, a total of 72 (36%) were completed. We are very pleased with the overall results which show that the school continues to thrive and were are delighted that this is reflected in your feedback. A copy of our raw analysis has been included for your information.
We are most grateful to those who, in addidtion, provided constructive comments to support the choices they made. These have formed the basis of many discussions between the senior leadership, staff and Governors and will continue to be a focus as we move into our next academic year. As a result, changes have already begun to take place.
To the parents who signed their questionnaire, we have tried to give personal feedback on how the comments have been addressed in school. Unfortunately, this has not been possible in every case due to some replies remaining anonymous.
Summary of main findings:
Areas of success |
|
Scotch Orchard has always had an ‘open door’ ethos. School leadership and Governors have Our vision is to continually update and refine our practice in order to maintain a high standard of teaching and learning. |
Areas for development |
|
Although homework appears to be an area for development, out of 72 replies, only 8 disagreed with the amount of homework set. Staff endeavour to vary the nature and the format of homework activities to comply with national recommendations. A series of short films are currently in production to inform parents about ways in which they can support their child’s learning. Initially, these focus on calculation strategies in maths and will be posted on the school website in July (scotchorchard.staffs.dbprimary.com). In addition, from September, we plan to introduce termly workshops which will focus on the new requirements of the curriculum. School acknowledges that on occasion, short notice has been given for school events and activities. Sometimes this is out of our control. In future, we are going to make sure that you are better informed of forthcoming events. |
If you have any further comments or suggestions to make, then please do not hesitate to contatct a member of staff or email the school office - office@scotchorchard.staffs.sch.uk
